Wimblecomm – New Blog from David Hall, Chair of Trustees, for October 2017 Survey

Last month we celebrated the anniversary of the start of this website. We first launched Wimblecomm in September 2016 and a year later now have 66 venues registered on the site!

The trustees of the Wimbledon Community Association (WCA) are pleased with our progress but we are keen to embrace more venue providers so if your local community centre, church hall or other community space for hire is in Merton and not on the site do register on-line or get in touch with us to find out more.

Traffic to the site is gradually increasing but we want to get more visitors so are embarking this month on a series of surveys aimed at both venue providers and venue users with separate ones for individuals and organisations.

But we would also like to encourage the organisations we work with to put the weblinks on their own sites and social media postings to get as wide a response from the community as possible.  Please alert your webmasters as appropriate!

The trustees consider themselves as temporary caretakers of this grand old local charity and would like to get responses from you, the good people of Wimbledon – and Merton more widely on the new role we have adopted for the WCA and on the functioning of this site.

Please take some time out to visit the survey and complete it as fully as you can.  It should not take more than a few minutes.  Individuals and organisations/groups from the general public (not currently members of the WCA) who submit their response by the deadline and provide us with their contact details will be entered into a prize draw.  Winners will be drawn and announced at our AGM, and those not present notified thereafter.

We are currently setting a deadline of end of Sunday, 12 November 2017 with a view to reporting back the findings at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held this year at one of our venues, the Mansel Road Centre, on 6 December at 7pm.

And please remember this is your site.  If your organisation is a venue provider registered on this site, it is a member and we would welcome future blog contributions.

Alternatively, if your organisation uses any one of the venues on Wimblecomm, it too could become a member if it meets our criteria. It’s free! See here for details:
