Red Cross Emergency Response Volunteers Needed

Job Description

When there is a fire, flood or severe weather, we’re among the first to respond. From making a cup of tea to deliver the essentials, we work with other organisations to do what’s needed straight away.

We are looking for a volunteer who is highly motivated & flexible and is able to;

  • Reach BRC Wimbledon Office, SW19 4EE within 30-40 mins.
  • Driving is essential for this role; you should have held a driving licence for at least 2 years.
  • Be available to be on-call for a minimum of 2 X 12 hour shifts a month, on a rota basis, covering either 07:00 to 19:00 or 19:00 to 07:00 shifts, on weekdays or weekends. This doesn’t necessarily mean you will be deployed every shift.
  • Able to attend in person training at British Red Cross UK office (44 Moorfields, London EC2Y 9AL) once a month. Usually held on the last Monday or Tuesday early evening of every month.
  • Available to undertake required in person, e-learning modules and Zoom training sessions in the first few months of volunteering (please see details in the Learning Pathway attached) plus other service specific trainings as required.
  • Minimum commitment of 18 months

Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo an Enhanced with Adults barred Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
