Job Description

Jollytime Playgroup, OFSTED rated Good, is a long-established playgroup, with a good reputation and popular with local families.  It is located in a small pocket park with its own pretty garden.  The playgroup is one of the services provided by North East Mitcham Community Association and as such is a pack-away playgroup.

Person Specification and Required Qualifications

We are looking for someone with good leadership skills who is hardworking, bright and capable with a friendly and welcoming approach.  A team player who is community minded.

  • 2 years childcare management position (desirable).
  • Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date DBS.
  • 2 references from previous employers, the most recent from last child care provider manager.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • First Aid certificate (desirable).
Job Description

Start date: 1 September 2022

Term Time: 39 weeks per annum, with possible 2 weeks summer scheme additional.

22 hours per week (comprising of 15 hours contact time, 5 hours setting up, 1 hour staff related and 1 hour administration).

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the playgroup subject to OFSTED requirements.
  • Line manage a team of 2-3 play workers (including appraisals, supervision and training).
  • Operate the new Early Years framework effectively.
  • Good understanding of Child Protection policy and procedures, working in partnership with the Designated Safeguard Lead.  Attend Case Conferences when necessary.
  • Report to and work with Merton’s Quality Assurance team.
  • Fulfil Senco role and attend relevant training.
  • Chair weekly staff meetings and keep minutes.
  • Respond to Council’s termly headcount and grant payments.
  • Carry out regular risk assessments.
  • Maintain good relations with parents.
  • Manage waiting list.
  • Ensure fees are collected on time.
  • Maintain Jollytime’s good reputation.
Salary £12.50 - £15 per hour. Pension optional (3% employer contribution).
