Wimbledon Guild Makes All Talking Therapies Free to Boost Access to Mental Health Support

Wimbledon Guild has announced that all its Talking Therapies services are now free of charge, removing financial barriers and expanding access to vital mental health support for adults who live, work or study in Merton.

The decision comes in response to growing demand for mental health services and increasing recognition of the importance of early, accessible support. By making its services free, the charity aims to ensure that anyone who needs help can access it without cost being a concern.

Wimbledon Guild’s Talking Therapies provides a range of support to help people improve their mental wellbeing, including one-to-one counselling, support groups, courses and workshops. The charity provides specialist support for refugees, people who are housebound, carers and individuals from Black and Asian communities, with counsellors who understand the impact that different cultural experiences can have on people’s lives.

By removing fees, Wimbledon Guild is taking an important step towards making support more inclusive and accessible, particularly at a time when financial pressures and mental health challenges are closely linked.

Adil Qureshi, Head of Talking Therapies at Wimbledon Guild, said:

“We know that mental health challenges can affect anyone, and access to support should never depend on someone’s ability to pay. Making all our Talking Therapies services free is a vital step in ensuring that people in our community can get the help they need when they need it. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming space where individuals can explore their experiences and build resilience for the future.”

All services are delivered by qualified counselling professionals and trained facilitators, offering tailored support to meet a wide range of needs.

This announcement builds on Wimbledon Guild’s long-standing commitment to supporting the local community through practical help and emotional support, particularly during times of increased social and economic pressure.
