Are you an enthusiastic, people‑focused organiser who thrives in a dynamic environment? We’re looking for a Community, Participation and Volunteering Coordinator to join our team at Morden Hall Park — someone who can confidently manage multiple priorities, build strong partnerships, support new forms of participation, and bring our work to life through inspiring community engagement.
If you’re passionate about connecting people with nature, skilled at leading volunteers, and excited by a role where no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.
Please include a cover letter with your application.
Interview dates: 25th of June
Type of contract: permanent
Hours/ working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. You’ll be required to work some evenings and weekends
What it’s like to work here
The advertised salary is inclusive of an Outer London weighting allowance of £3,315
Morden Hall Park is a thriving, well‑used urban greenspace. Our team works closely with volunteers, partners and community groups to deliver conservation work and create meaningful opportunities for people to connect with nature and the National Trust’s cause.
This is an exciting moment to join us. We’re strengthening partnerships, developing our community offer, and creating new ways for local people to shape and participate in our work.
Every day is different at Morden Hall Park, and the role requires a dynamic approach — adapting quickly to shifting demands while keeping people at the heart of what we do.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead on community engagement and volunteering, taking an “outside‑in” approach — meaning you’ll shape plans and decisions based on community insight, lived experience and local needs.
You’ll build partnerships, create inclusive volunteering experiences, lead volunteer briefings, and work with colleagues to ensure all 300+ volunteers are supported and well looked after.
You’ll coach colleagues, embed best practice, and ensure systems and data are well managed. You’ll work to remove barriers to access, making sure underserved voices are heard and involved.
Using insight and relationships, you’ll help shape strategic decisions and test new approaches to participation — connecting people with places and creating lasting public benefit.
You’ll also be part of the duty management team, responsible for opening and closing the park, operational safety and security, and acting as a main point of contact for staff, volunteers and visitors.
Diversifying our audiences and workforce is really important to us and we value lived experience and character. If you’re excited about this role but you don’t meet every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway if you have other experience and skills which are transferrable. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
Who we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
• Understanding of and experience in good practice in volunteer management
• Understanding of and experience in community engagement and collaborative working
• Proven experience developing and implementing new approaches to volunteering
• Excellent organisation and planning skills
• Self‑directed and able to manage responsibilities independently
• Ability to coach and support those managing, supervising or working alongside volunteers and community partners
• Strong communication skills, including public speaking
