…free community walks coming to a green space near you…
The Walk and Talk Movement (https://www.walkandtalkmovement.org/) has teamed up with Merton Council and Merton Connected to roll out free weekly community walk and talks across Merton.
This is a chance for all generations across the Borough to take a stroll, chat, meet friends and neighbours, make new ones and help others. From older adults to young children, from buggies to beagles – everybody can join in.
The Walk and Talk Movement is on a mission to bring people together in a fun, healthy and engaging way. We want to help thousands of people reconnect with their local community after the terrible pandemic we have all suffered from.
The original Walk and Talk started in 2021 in Wimbledon Park and has been a huge success, helping many hundreds of local residents come together and enjoy their green space.
Walk and talkers have already walked over 850 miles, made more than 1.5m steps together, burnt more than 85,000 calories and enjoyed hundreds of conversations and stories. New local friends have been made, neighbours who didn’t know each other have met for the first time, people who have been isolated or who have suffered losses during the pandemic have reconnected.
The Walk and Talk Movement puts smiles on these faces and more every week.
