Merton Libraries Update

Latest Updates

The library service is pleased to announce that from week commencing 5 October all of their libraries will be open for browsing, book borrowing and pre booked public computer sessions.

The COVID pandemic has provided the library service with some additional challenges as they work hard to keep everyone who enters their buildings safe. To ensure they can continue providing library members with consistent, quality services over the winter, they have taken the decision to amend their opening hours as a temporary measure. Please ensure you review their temporary opening hours before making your next visit. Your visit may feel a bit different to usual so please watch their video.

Please visit the Merton Libraries News & Updates pages to find out temporary opening hours and other information.

Earlier Updates

1/10/2020 NHS Covid-19 App

The NHS COVID-19 app was launched on 24 September. The app helps to monitor the spread of COVID-19 by notifying users if they come into contact with someone who later tests positive for COVID-19. It also allows people to report symptoms, order a test and check in to venues. The app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. For more information and to download the app please visit the NHS website.

Merton libraries are now displaying the NHS App QR codes on posters at all customer entrances. Customers will be able to record when they visit one of our libraries by “checking-in” when they arrive, using the venue’s QR code. As part of track and trace you can scan in at the library or our staff can take your details. The libraries will keep your details securely for 21 days and securely dispose of them after that period.

Since the beginning of August 2020 libraries in Merton have re-opened for a Click & Collect service. Some computers will also be available, advance booking is required. For details see below, follow Merton Libraries on Twitter, and visit: Merton Libraries News.

From Monday 7 September, Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon libraries will be open for browsing. The Click & Collect service, and use of some computers, will still be provided at all seven of Merton’s libraries. Your visit may feel a bit different to usual, so please check the Merton Libraries website before you visit for more information.

Library Staff Community Response

A big thank you to the Merton library staff who have been supporting MVSC and the volunteer sector in the borough to help isolated households and those at risk from COVID-19, and staff who have been redeployed to work in the Merton Council Shielding team.

This is Anthony, Head of Libraries, Heritage & Adult education. Since @MertonLibraries buildings had to temporarily close during the lockdown earlier this year, Anthony & his team have been helping manage the MVSC @MertonConnected Community Hub and calling the most vulnerable residents.
