Merton Giving Week is returning for its third year. The official week of fundraising and celebration of local giving takes place from 30th November to 6th December 2020 with residents and businesses being asked to help those in our community facing food insecurity through financial donations to the ‘Food for All’ fundraising campaign or by donating a Festive shoe-box hamper through ‘A Gift for All’.
We’ve witnessed such inspiring acts of kindness during the pandemic and, in the run up to the festive season, Merton Giving would like to build on this heart-warming community spirit to continue to make a positive difference. Their focus for this year’s campaign is to support charities who help those in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. The demand for food during the pandemic has escalated sharply with people looking for help to feed their families, including those that cannot access food or cannot afford food.

2020 has been an incredibly tough year for so many residents and now, more than ever, people are turning to local charitable organisations for support to help them through difficult times. Local charities need our help to help those in need.
There are two simple ways for businesses and residents to get involved.
‘Food For All’ – You can make a donation to their fundraising campaign at justgiving.com/campaign/mertongivingweek2020. All donations will go to the Food Insecurity strand of the Merton Giving Coronavirus Fund – Response, Resilience and Recovery which will provide financial assistance to charities working locally including those who help support people experiencing food insecurity.
‘A Gift For All’ – Merton Giving is teaming up with other charitable organisations in the borough with a campaign encouraging people to make and donate a Festive shoe-box hamper, to residents in need, to help make their Christmas a little brighter. Organisations including Sustainable Merton, Wimbledon Guild and Polish Family are on-board offering donation drop off points and/or to distribute hampers to residents in need. Chamber members South Thames College have partnered with Age UK Merton to gift hamper packs, donated by students, to their vulnerable clients as part of the Gift For All campaign. - Since the pandemic began and over a six-month period, Phase 1 of the Merton Giving Coronavirus Fund, has supported over 70 charities with grant funding totalling over £210,000.
