A message from the Festival Director
I am delighted to announce an innovative ‘virtual’ Wimbledon Music Festival, running from Friday 13 until Sunday 22 November 2020. You will know that the cultural sector has been particularly badly hit during the pandemic, and the Wimbledon Music Festival is determined to play its part in keeping music alive.
We celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with some of his great masterpieces as we present a series of ‘recitals with attitude’, bringing you closer than ever to the hearts and souls of our artists as they explore their personal relationship with their chosen works.
Founder members of London Winds, Michael Collins and Robin O’Neill are joined by pianist Michael McHale to discuss Beethoven’s chamber music; long-standing duo partners Raphael Wallfisch and John York reveal their fascination for the cello sonatas; and Piers Lane appears with Tama Matheson in a new play about preparing the complete piano sonatas.
