Weeding and mulching trees in Morden Park.
Event hosted Merton Friends of the Earth in partnership with Merton Tree Wardens and Friends of Morden Park.
Join us as we return to Morden Park on Saturday 16 August to care for the 1,600 tree saplings planted to date, as part of our ongoing campaign to double tree cover in Merton.
Event Details:
Date: Saturday, 16 August
Location: Morden Park
Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm (followed by Monthly Meeting)
Please register to help us estimate tools needed for event.
What you’ll do:
During the event, volunteers will help us look after the young tree saplings by weeding and adding mulch around them. This is an essential part of trees’ early growth, and gives them the best chance to thrive as weeds compete with saplings for water, sunlight, and nutrients.
Everyone is welcome – no experience needed! Training and tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves.
What to bring/ wear:
Sturdy shoes
Weather-appropriate clothing
A drink and snack (optional) – tree care is thirsty work, but rewarding!
Come along to meet like-minded people and make a real impact in your local community.
Why register?
Registration is free! By registering you help us plan for the right number and size of tools, and we can keep you updated with event details.
