Join us on August 13th, for a mesmerising demonstration by accomplished Surrey artist Brendan Smith who will be painting a holiday scene in watercolour, featuring buildings and people.
Brendan says: “Increasingly I have found that I am less interested in the detail of a subject and more in the overall impression. I am fascinated by the ability of pigment, water and paper to produce everything from the most subtle atmospheric effects in a sunrise to the strongest tonal contrasts in a dark urban setting.
“I like to cover as broad a range of subject matter as possible, whether in the built environment or the natural landscape but all based on my own perception of the place or subject. I always aim to create a sense of light and atmosphere and a feeling of human involvement with the scene”.
