Merton Art Society Meeting 12th November 2024
Join the members of our friendly art society for an entertaining and informative illustrated talk by Ronnie Ireland about the life and work of John Singer Sargent.
Ronnie Ireland is an artist and teacher based in Hampshire. He is an articulate and humorous speaker and is meticulous in his research and selection of images to accompany his talks, which are always very enjoyable and absorbing.
John Singer Sargent was an American expatriate artist, considered the leading portrait painter of his generation for his evocations of Edwardian-era luxury. He created roughly 900 oil paintings and more than 2,000 watercolours, as well as countless sketches and charcoal drawings. He was born in Florence in 1856 and died in London in 1925.
For much, much more, come and listen to Ronnie’s talk on 12th November.
