Come and join us for an informative and entertaining illustrated talk by Ronnie Ireland at Martin Way Methodist Church, SW20 9JZ on Tuesday 12th March from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Doors open 7pm.
Entitled ‘For The Love Of Paint’, we will learn about the lives and work of Joan Eardley and Anne Redpath.
Joan Eardley (1921-1963) is one of Scotland’s most popular twentieth century artists. Her powerful and expressive paintings transformed her everyday surroundings, including the rugged Scottish coastline and Glasgow’s street children.
Anne Redpath (1895 – 1965) became well known in the Scottish art world from the 1950’s, specialising in landscapes, church interiors and still lifes painted in rich colours. Her work from the late 1950s responds to Abstract Expressionism in the free and expressive handling of paint.
Guests are very welcome to attend for £6 on the door, rising to £8 after two visits. But why not take out annual membership for £35 and enjoy our varied monthly programme of demos, talks and workshops for only £2 per visit. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month except January when we take a break.
