Join the Local Heritage team and share your food memories!

Did you enjoy Pascall’s sweets? Was your Christmas cake covered with Renshaw’s marzipan? Did you or your relatives work at Benninga’s margarine factory?

Perhaps you remember happy times drinking shakes in the Orinoco milk bar in Wimbledon during the 1950s. Can you remember when you had your first Italian, Indian or Chinese meal? And what about takeaways?

This informal reminiscence session will give you the opportunity to share your food memories with the Merton Heritage team. We will cover everything from local food manufacturers, to food shops, shopping, cafes, restaurants, home cooking and memories of favourite foods. There will also be a chance to view photos from the Merton heritage collection.
