Event Details
In the early 1700’s there were a handful of African Caribbeans in Sutton. They endured a precarious life of indeterminate legal status and the possibility of freedom in England or a return to family and community but definite enslavement in the West Indies. Five ASide Theatre and Sutton African Caribbean Cultural Organisation have joined with the people of Sutton in creating a dynamic production reimaging the lives of 18th Century African Caribbeans in Sutton through narrative, poetry, music and art. Join us for their compelling story.
We will also run a great art workshop where we explore African Caribbeans in 18th Century Art.
