Nature trails, planting & guided walks at new Nature Weekend
Celebrate the return of spring and experience the wonder of nature at our inaugural Nature Weekend taking place on Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 May in the Park.
The two-day celebration, sponsored by Robert Holmes & Company estate agents, has a packed programme of activities designed to help children and adults alike develop their knowledge of the Park and explore its hidden treasures.
Activities include guided bird walks, a guided bat walk, tree dressing, planting and pot decorating as well as nature trails. Families will love the chance to meet Fudge, a Shetland pony from neighbouring Wimbledon Stables.
Nature Weekend schedule
Saturday 22 May
08.00 – 09.30: Guided Bird Walk Click here to book
Join us for an early morning Bird Walk to discover of the variety of species who call the Park home. Local bird expert Adrian Podmore, responsible for bird monitoring in neighbouring Wimbledon Common, will guide us in discovering and observing the different species.
11.00 – 12.00: Meet ‘The Fantastic Mr Fudge’ – a marvellous (and mischievous) Miniature Shetland pony who lives with our neighbours at Wimbledon Stables.
11.00 – 15.00: Nature Trail. We’ve created a very special Nature Trail activity sheet enabling children of all ages to enjoy a magical mystery tour of the Park, discovering its animals, art and famous trees.
20.30 – 22.00: Guided Bat Walk Click here to book
Join us after sunset in search for these mysterious mammals with local bat enthusiast, Elliot Newton. With the aid of bat detectors, we will scan the skies for bats and learn all about their lives and the threats they face. It’s set to be an exciting evening of discovery and a unique opportunity to explore the Park at night!
Sunday 23 May

Join us for an early morning bird walk to discover the variety of species who call the Park home. With expert guidance from the RSPB Richmond & Twickenham Local Group we will find and identify a selection of our feathered friends.
12.00 – 15.00: Planting and potting
Children of all ages are invited to join our green-fingered team in planting some fantastic flowers in the Park. Head to the Italian Garden where families can also enjoy tree decorating and take away some seasonal sunflowers to grow at home.
