October Half Term Workshops
Free for Merton families. Workshops will take place on Zoom. Please note that to take part you will need to complete an enrolment form. For parents and carers to do with their children. Suitable for children aged 3-10.
These workshops are inspired by Black History Month.
Multicultural storytelling, rhythm and rhyme
Tuesday 27 October, 1-3pm
Join us to listen to Multicultural Stories, take part in singing and engage in rhythm and rhyme activities.
Recommended Materials: a shaker or something to tap on (Water bottle with rice is fine!)
Make an African Djembe drum and paint an African Sunset
Thursday 29 October, 1–3pm
Learn about the origins of the African Djembe drum and make your own. Decorate it using African patterns and shapes.
Make an African sunset picture, learning how to blend colours and draw silhouettes of endangered animals.
Recommended materials for each drum:Two paper cups, string, scissors, glue, balloon, rubber band, tape.
For African sunset collage:Paper, paints, brushes, black card or paper, scissors, pens, glue.
Fabric patterns and flags of Africa
Friday 30 October, 10am-12pm
Enjoy learning about the patterns and flags that have shaped the map of Africa, drawing inspiration from them to create your own unique map.
