Wimbledon General Election Hustings
Monday 24 June 2024 – 7.30pm start
Merton Arts Space, Wimbledon Library, SW19

Wimbledon Community Association, in partnership with Sustainable Merton, Merton’s local environmental charity, will be hosting a free to attend Hustings on Monday 24 June ahead of the General Election on 4 July.

The event, which will start at 7:30pm, with doors open from 7:00pm, will be held at Merton Arts Space, situated at the back of Wimbledon Library. It promises residents the opportunity to hear the views of the candidates standing for the Wimbledon constituency.

All the candidates are invited to attend:
Conservative: Danielle Dunfield-Prayero
Green: Rachel Brooks
Heritage: Michael Watson
Independent: Sarah Barber
Independent: Amy Lynch
Labour: Eleanor Stringer
Liberal Democrat: Paul Kohler
Reform: Ben Cronin
Workers Party: Aaron Mafi

David Hall, Chair of Trustees at WCA and lead organiser, said: “A hustings is a public meeting where potential voters are able to listen to candidates speak about their policies and ask questions directly. This event offers a vital opportunity to residents to ensure they are informed, find the information that perhaps they can’t find elsewhere and be confident in their decision-making, come the General Election on 4 July.”

The event will aim to cover as broad a range of issues from all parties as possible, given the time available, such as the cost of living, health, the environment, education, as well as local issues.

The event will be facilitated by Diana Sterck, current CEO of Sustainable Merton and former CEO for Merton Chamber of Commerce.

She says: “Please come and meet the candidates and hear their views on important topics that affect our everyday lives and the future for the next generation.”

Wimblecomm is also seeking to host a separate event for the Mitcham and Morden constituency.
