To our community
Many of you have been in touch about our plans and events – will they continue to go ahead in the near future in light of the current circumstances? The Trustees wanted to take a moment to write to you personally to address these concerns and let you know about our plans over the next few weeks.
EVENTS
We have always prided ourselves on delivering great events, which bring our community together. However, the most recent government announcements sadly mean we cannot truly deliver on that right now. Therefore we have had to take the difficult decision to make the following changes to our events planned for 2020
Thursday 26 March – FSPG AGM – POSTPONED
Sunday 29 March – MEET THE TRUSTEES – POSTPONED
Sunday 5 April – EASTER EGG HUNT – CANCELLED
Sunday 14 June – SUMMER PICNIC – UNDER REVIEW
GARDEN PAVILION BOOKINGS
We have taken the decision to close the Garden Pavilion to bookings with immediate effect. We will continually monitor the situation and when this changes we will be updating the website and informing the community.
THE PARK
The Park remains open and will continue to be until such time as government guidance alters. It is a great open space and is a central part of our community. For many who are now working from home for an extended period, please visit – walking the paths in the park is approximately 500m so it’s a great place to get your steps in and some fresh air, whilst observing social distancing.
BLISS IN THE PARK
The Kiosk remains open and is a vital part of our community. Chris is observing all the latest government advice. It is her own small business, so please support her during these difficult times.
FSPG NEWSLETTER
The Newsletter was just about to be printed and distributed. However, given we have a team of volunteers who deliver to approximately 2,500 households, we have take the decision to provide an online version only. This is attached. We hope you enjoy it. If you know of anyone who would like to be included on the distribution list for newsletters, please ask them to drop an email to friendsofsouthparkgardesn@gmail.com.
WIDER COMMUNITY
Now is the time to pull together as a community, to help each other out and support our local businesses. Look out for the vulnerable and elderly; families, friends and those with less access to resources than many of us. Merton Covid Aid UK is one example – https://freedomnews.org.uk/covid-19-uk-mutual-aid-groups-a-list/
With best wishes from the Trustees of Friends of South Park Gardens
