About Us
Girls Into Coding provides girls aged 10 to 14 with unique hands-on experience in coding, robotics, physical computing, 3D printing & 3D design activities. Our workshops and educational events are led by a range of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educators and mentors, including girls in the same age range as the attendees. Our vision is to see girls and women engaged in STEM activities, education & careers – equally comfortable, with an equal sense of belonging, and in equal numbers.
Our aim is to engage at least 1000 girls a year with hands-on meaningful workshop opportunities and inspiring talks.
Our Story and Who we are
Avye is a 13-year-old student and passionate about STEM. In 2018, already a coder, maker, and workshop leader she came up with the idea of organising coding events for girls, after repeatedly observing that most attendees at her workshops were boys. She was determined to encourage more girls to give STEM a go. As a result, she decided to set up ‘Girls Into Coding’, a series of events targeting girls.
Girls into Coding is a Community Interest Company (CIC), a not-for-profit organisation. We are a mother and daughter-run social enterprise.
