The 2020 Summer Reading Challenge came to an end in September and we want to congratulate everyone who got involved. Whilst it has been a rather strange and unpredictable year, this year’s challenge still went ahead and gave young readers the opportunity to explore literature and have some fun with books.
We sponsored Merton Libraries Summer Reading Challenge 2020 for another consecutive year because we wanted to encourage children in Merton to read more, show that reading is fun, and give the children an additional chance to be rewarded for their efforts. The prize draw element of the Summer Reading Challenge is unique to our borough and is something that our sponsorship contributed to giving Merton’s children the chance to win a Family Ticket to Warner Bros Studio The Making of Harry Potter Tour, a Tablet, or a Gift card from The Entertainer in Wimbledon.
‘The theme for the Challenge was “Silly Squad” – a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter, featuring bespoke artwork from award-winning children’s author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson.’ – Merton Libraries
Despite the current circumstances and changed format, the challenge was welcomed by many, and we want to applaud all the young readers that completed it. In our eyes, everyone was a winner, but there were some lucky ones (pictured) who also won in the prize draw.
