We recently wrote an article giving advice on how you can set up your own community event, but if you haven’t quite got around to that yet, you may wish to support the Trinity United Reformed Church as they put on their annual Wimbledon Christmas Tree Festival. By sponsoring one of the 40 trees available, you will be supplied with a tree and a stand which you will then be responsible for decorating. Whilst there are no limitations on how you decorate your tree, you will have to choose a country that you wish to represent; countries are allocated on a first come, first served basis so you may just have to get creative! Last year, our tree represented the country of Turkey. To find out how we linked the two without getting food involved, keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account where we will explain further.
The festival itself will be taking place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of December 2018 when the church will be transformed into a spectacle of light, colour and joy. The event will be raising money for London’s Air Ambulance, so whilst enjoying the Christmas spirit alongside other members of our local community, you will be giving back to the wider community and those in need.
In recent years, the WCA have sponsored a tree alongside many other local organisations, schools and businesses. You can see pictures from the previous three years here and you can find images of the WCA trees from both 2016 and 2017 below.
We look forward to seeing your trees and hope that you enjoy the festival as much as we have over the previous years.
The deadline for tree sponsorship applications is 30th September, so don’t hesitate for too long. Click here for the application form.
