After a highly successful inaugural event last year, local charity Wimbledon Guild is bringing its fundraising walk across Wimbledon Common back for a second year.

Open to everyone, with and without dogs, the walk will take place on the morning of Saturday 28th September on Wimbledon Common, and just like last year, if you book in advance, your dog (or dogs) goes free!

The Waggy Walk is one of Wimbledon Guild’s main fundraising events, and the monies raised will help us to continue our work in the borough of Merton to reduce social isolation and loneliness, help those who are experiencing difficulties and enable older people to be active and healthy.

From our base on Worple Road in Wimbledon we have helped to turn around the lives of over 2,000 people in the last year, and each month we provide over 120 activities – from exercise classes to social clubs and even tap dancing for those over 55.

We rely heavily on donations and income from events such as the Waggy Walk to continue our work in for the Merton community and can only continue through the generosity of local people and businesses. By taking part in our Waggy Walk, you can help ensure that Wimbledon Guild will be always be here to help people in Merton in times of need.

On the day, all waggy walkers will have the choice of a 4km or 7km walk, both starting and finishing at the newly refurbished, award winning and dog-friendly Hand in Hand pub on Wimbledon Common. Check in will open from 9am, and the walk starts at 10:30am. The Hand in Hand will be offering all walkers complimentary breakfast refreshments.

Every dog that completes the event will receive a goody bag from luxury pet shop Pet Pavilion and an H.R. Owen Maserati sponsored commemorative rosette. The luxury car brand will also have one of their stunning cars on display, which you can win to drive for a weekend in a raffle.  Metro Bank will on hand to offer support and give out free goodie bags too.

Cawston Press will again generously be providing complimentary drinks for our wonderful walkers and delicious homemade post-walk goodies will again be provided by Two Teaspoons Cookery – at no extra cost!

Tickets are just £10 per adult, £5 per child (4-16yrs), £5 for your dog and £25 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children). Booking fees apply.

We are very grateful to Ashworth Solicitors, Pet Pavilion and H.R. Owen Maserati who are supporting and sponsoring the walk.

Visit www.wimbledonguild.co.uk/waggywalk or telephone 020 8739 2920 to book.
